A drawing of a skeleton, made with the help of an easy step by step tutorial.

The thing about skeletons is that they are, of class, incredibly detailed. Even a pro would probably sweat at the thought of trying to draw a skeleton with all the bones included.

That doesn't mean though that skeletons have to exist off limits for children. OR that they tin't larn how to depict 1 that is a bit more realistic.

This tutorial is made to testify older elementary students how to draw a skeleton with bones that look a little more similar the existent thing, without getting too overwhelming. Information technology starts with a unproblematic skull that includes the cheek bones, and works down, always matching 1 side to the other. The pose is symmetrical, which helps when trying to draw new shapes.

If any of your students look a footling hesitant about taking this on, encourage them to but simplify things as needed. The point is, even generalizing some of those shapes a bit will aid them learn a LOT more than if they never fifty-fifty tried at all.

Materials for a Skeleton Drawing

  • Eraser. Large ones you can hold in your hand practise a much amend task than merely the pencil tips.
  • Black Sharpie Marking. These fine point permanent marker pens make overnice black outlines, have a good tip for coloring, and never bleed when they get wet. Utilise them with good ventilation and add together extra paper underneath to protect your tables.
  • Prang Crayons. These are a fleck softer than other crayons and so they sometimes look like oil pastels. They also have a some nice brown shades that Crayola does not have unless yous buy their larger boxes.
  • Crayola Crayons. The reliable make that always works well. The 24 pack has some of my favorite golden orange and yellowish colors that seem a bit richer and warmer than the ones Prang has.
